Short Bio
I am on a break from full-time work. I finished my last role in 2025, I was an Assistant Professor, spending nearly six years in the Secure Cyber Systems Research Group, WMG, University of Warwick, Coventry, UK, researching secure and resilient system design. I received a B.Eng.(Hons.) degree in computer and control system engineering (1986), an M.Sc. degree in forensic computing (2015), and a Ph.D. degree in automotive cybersecurity (2019), all from Coventry University, Coventry, UK. I have 30+ years of computer engineering experience, principally in software design and development, however, I have worked in several roles in industrial and financial businesses, including software architecture, leading software teams, software product management, microprocessor system design, technical authorship, and leading technical projects. At the University of Warwick, I aided the engineering and delivery of several Innovate U.K.-funded projects. I contribute to the open-source community through software and have written 300+ articles (mainly via this website). I am a Chartered Engineer and a member of the IET and ACM.
